Children under the age of 6 are entitled to free visits to a participating GP.
In addition to free GP visits, the GP visit card for children under 6 covers specific assessments at age 2 and 5 and care for children with asthma.
These assessments are preventive checks that include charting age, weight and height and taking appropriate follow-up action.
The asthma checks will assess your child’s asthma and review their medications, including ensuring that your child is using inhalers correctly. A written plan will be given to you to help you manage your child’s asthma. The initial check takes place when asthma is diagnosed in a child over 2 years of age, followed by another check in the following 3 months and then annually until the child reaches the age of 6.

Bord Na Móna Littleton
STATEMENT:
Deputy Michael Lowry has expressed disappointment at the failure of the Labour Relations Commission to resolve a plethora for outstanding issues between Bord na Móna Management and it’s staff.
The talks have now ended without agreement. This is not surprising considering Management of Bord na Móna have been very intransigent in the negotiations. While it is accepted that Bord na Móna has many competitive challenges it must be noted that they have just announced an annual profit of €52 million.
It is unjust to expect the workforce to submit to enforced pay cuts, pay freeze and redeployment terms. The proposed terms and conditions of future employment are unacceptable to the vast majority of Bord na Móna workforce. Bord na Móna Group of Unions will next week make a full submission to the Labour Court. This prolonged dispute is damaging morale and working relationships between management and staff.
Deputy Lowry called on the Company to enter meaningful discussions to find a compromise solution in the interest of the workforce and the long-term future of the Company.
Cut Loose Festival Holycross 2015 Another Great Success
Cut Loose Festival Holycross 2015 Another Great Success
After Six Months of planning some of Ireland’s biggest Country and Irish acts presented an incredible day of entertainment at Holycross GAA pitch, Thurles Sunday July 19th. From when the gates open at 12 noon the festival goers were treated to non-stop entertainment throughout the day until after 7pm. Our large dance-floor was filled with young and old dances who thoroughly enjoyed the performances.
I would like to personally thank all the Stewarts, Ticket Sellers, Committee Members and Volunteers who graciously gave their time to make the event a success.
IFA LAUNCHES NATIONAL FARM SAFETY AWARENESS DAY, TUESDAY 21ST JULY
IFA LAUNCHES NATIONAL FARM SAFETY AWARENESS DAY, TUESDAY 21ST JULY
“I am asking farm families to take time out from farming on Tuesday next, 21st July to review their Farm Safety Risk Assessment by assessing the safety risks on their farm and put in place control measures to reduce the risk of accidents. IFA, with the support of the Champions for Change campaign, has produced an easy-to-use Farm Safety Risk Assessment Planner, which I would encourage all farm families to use to review safety on their farm”.
The National Farm Safety Awareness Day is part of the IFA’s ongoing SAVE LIVES, ‘Think Safety, Farm Safely’ campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of working on a farm and encourage farmers to change working practices to reduce risks.
IFA Farm Family and Social Affairs Chairwoman Maura Canning said that National Farm Safety Awareness Day is about getting the whole family involved to review safety on the farm. “Summer is a very busy time on farms so it is important that the young people are aware of the potential risks. By getting the whole family involved I believe we will bring about real change in behaviour to safety and make farming safer.”
Eddie Downey said, “Attitudes to farm safety are changing. The response to the Farm Safety Scheme shows that if farmers are supported, they will invest in safety. IFA will continue to work with and support farm families through initiatives like the Farm Safety Risk Assessment planner to improve safety on farms”.

Tipperary will see the official launch of Eircode over the next two weeks
Eircode will provide a unique sequence of numbers for over 2.2 million homes and businesses across Ireland. The introduction of Eircode will bring Ireland inline with most other European county’s who already operate a postcode system. Over a two week period Eircode will send an information letter to each residential and business in Tipperary. This letter will notify the occupant of the Eircode for that property. The letter will also include a handy pop-out card containing the Eircode for the address – be sure to keep this in a handy place and refer to it when you need to.
Check Your Address To Find Your Eircode Here: Eircode Address Checker
Eircode will bring many benefits such as:
- Allow delivery and service companies to accurately identify addresses so your deliveries get to the right location
- Make it quicker and easier for medical emergency services to locate addresses
- Make it quicker and easier to shop online
- Help to develop Irish businesses
- Facilitate better planning and delivery of public services

Tunisia travel advice updated in light of security concerns
Tunisia travel advice updated in light of security concerns – Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Charlie Flanagan
Following consultations and consideration of the security situation in Tunisia, Irish citizens are being advised to avoid non-essential travel to Tunisia in light of increased security concerns, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Charlie Flanagan, announced today.
The travel advice has been changed from ‘exercise extreme caution’ to ‘avoid non-essential travel’,
Minister Flanagan said: “This morning, we took the decision to upgrade our travel advice on Tunisia to advise against all non-essential travel. This is the second-highest warning category on our five-point scale for travel advice.
“Since the brutal terrorist attack on tourists in Sousse on June 26,where three Irish citizens tragically lost their lives, we have been in ongoing contact with our international partners and relevant agencies to continually assess the security situation in Tunisia.
“We are now encouraging any Irish visitors to Tunisia to review whether their presence in Tunisia is essential and, where it is not, we are advising them to leave by commercial means.
“Following the decision by travel companies to discontinue direct flights from Dublin to Monastir earlier this month, we believe that relatively few Irish visitors are currently in Tunisia. Our Embassy in Madrid, which is accredited to Tunisia, will be notifying those Irish citizens who are resident in the country of the changes to the travel advice.
“I urge all Irish citizens travelling abroad to register their details with the Department of Foreign Affairs’ Citizens’ Registration site (Available HERE ) so that we can quickly provide consular assistance to them during an emergency.
“I strongly encourage Irish citizens in Tunisia who are not yet registered with the Department but who plan to remain in Tunisia to register without delay.
“We keep our travel advice under constant review and will continue to monitor the situation in Tunisia very closely.”
